Treat first, what kills first.

Search for and treat injuries/wounds in an appropriate order.

* S – Secure Area

* M – Massive hemorrhage: Screening for severe, life-threatening bleeding with immediate treatment if necessary.
* A – Airway: Control and securing of the airways.
* R – Respiration: Monitoring of respiration and the bony thorax for disturbances and critical injuries.
* C – Circulation: Assessment of the circulatory situation with renewed screening for further injuries.
* H – Head injury/Hypothermia: Monitoring for signs of traumatic brain injury or hypothermia.
